The REYC has three yachts available for charter to serving Royal Engineers, club members and members of affiliated Service Clubs. Their availability can be checked, and bookings made, at the link below:

Further Details and Charging Structure

Based at Fort Blockhouse, Gosport the yachts are a J109, Trojan of Upnor, X-332, Ilex of Upnor, a Delher 32 Right Royal of Upnor and a Norfolk Smuggler, Hebe.

Note: The J109 is currently being prepared for MCA Coding and will be added to the charter fleet in due course.

Ilex and Right Royal are MCA coded for charter and IRC rated for racing. Hebe, due to her design, is not MCA coded and so may only be used by REYC Club members

If you’re looking to plan or take part in military adventurous training then the club is well set up to provide you with planning and practical assistance, as well as potentially giving grants to offset some costs.

N.B. All skippers wishing to race Trojan or to cruise with the asymmetric spinnakers issued must arrange for specific briefing/training prior to the charter date.

* Inshore racing in the X-332 allows for 8 crew, for the J109 crews are restricted by weight to no more than 9.

Eligibility

To qualify for the members’ rate, the skipper must be a full Member.  Members should quote their membership number when requesting a charter.  All applications for associate membership or loan of yachts to other units for Adventurous Training must be processed by the Rear Commodore (Offshore).

Charter fees are to be paid in full before the charter commences. Cheques should be sent to the REYC(O) Treasurer and be made payable to: REYC Offshore. All invoices include bank details for online payments. Those planning Military Adventurous Training are reminded that the club limitations do not supersede or negate the requirements mandated by AGAI Ch 11.

Additional Charges

Post charter, bills may be raised against skippers for cleaning, fuel, gas, loss or damage to the inventory or craft in accordance with the rules and bye-laws of the club, the rates for which are set out below. Skippers should check before the charter that their personal liability insurance is adequate. It is also possible to hire sailing clothing – a charge of £5 per person per set of oilskins/boots applies.

Charges and Fines

Charges and fines may be imposed by the RC(O) in addition to those charges listed above for negligence or poor seamanship.  For details see the REYC Rules and Bye-Laws 2000 – Serials 43-49.

Location

The boats are berthed in Dolphin Pool at the Army Offshore Sailing Centre (AOSC), Fort Blockhouse, Gosport. A location map will be attached to the charter Joining Instructions. Fort Blockhouse is best found by following signs to Haslar Hospital once in Gosport proper.  It is a requirement for all Skippers to contact Fort Blockhouse prior to arrival to ensure all crew members are booked into camp.

Making a Booking

The availability of all yachts can be checked using the online booking system, Planyo on the following link: http://www.planyo.com/about-calendar.php?calendar=14294.  All yachts can be booked using this system, and a confirmatory email and invoice will then be sent by the Charters Secretary.  This system also includes a message option for any additional requests or queries.  Alternatively, for those who cannot access Planyo, email the Charters Secretary at reycoffshorecharters@hotmail.co.uk to request availability. Once confirmed an invoice will be raised and sent to the skipper in advance of the charter (usually six weeks if sufficient notice is given).
