Eligibility. To qualify for the lower charter rate, the charterer must be a Full or Associate member of the REYC. Members should quote their membership number when requesting a charter. Reciprocal Members must be able to prove their membership of an affiliated Service Yacht Club to the Charter Secretary before their charter is accepted. The use of yachts for Adventurous Training must be processed through the Rear Commodore (Offshore) or Racing Secretary.

Familiarisation sail on Hebe. There is a mandatory brief for charterers on Hebe’s sail plans and idiosyncrasies. Skippers are to allow two hours for full take-over and brief; there will be no out-of-hours blind take-overs for skippers who have not previously sailed Hebe.

Provisional bookings for July/August. To allow those members with unconfirmed schedules (usually Serving) missing out on booking over the sometimes-congested summer period, provisional bids may be made from the Jan of a year, but will only be confirmed at the end of May.

Racing.Club yachts may only be raced by skippers who are authorised by the RC(O) or the Deputy RC(O). Yachts may be manned in accordance with the relevant Racing Instructions, but in no circumstances shall the maximum load shown on the yacht’s Coding Certificate (SCV2) be exceeded.

N.b. All skippers wishing to race Trojan or crew with the asymmetric spinnakers must arrange for specific briefing/training prior to the charter rate.

Individual DayRacing fee.  For day-racing, the fee per person will be capped at maximum of £20 per person per day.

Additional Charges.Post charter, bills may be raised against skippers for cleaning, fuel, gas, loss or damage to the inventory or craft in accordance with the Club Regulations. Skippers should check before the charter that their personal liability insurance is adequate.

Making a booking. Firstly, check the current charter schedule HERE. If you cannot access the site, please contact the Charter Secretary. Once confirmed, an invoice will be raised and sent to the skipper in advance of the charter (usually six weeks if sufficient notice is given). Charter fees must be paid in full at least 14 days before the charter commences. Cheques should be sent to the REYC Offshore Treasurer and be made payable to ‘REYC Offshore’. Alternatively, bank transfers can be made; bank details will be on the booking form sent out by the Charter Secretary. Cancellation without penalty must be made at least 7 days before the first day of the charter. Sailing clothing (oilskins and boots) are available free of charge to charterers.

Adventurous Training. Those planning military Adventurous Training are reminded that the Club limitations do not supersede or negate the requirements mandated by AGAI Chapter 11.
